Save the Planet by Surfing the Web, 'Green' Websites Promise

On the internet, anyone can be an environmentalist. All you have to do, is, well, nothing. A number of "green" internet businesses promise users they can help save the planet by doing little more than surfing the right websites.

For instance, Blackle.com claims to help you save energy by offering a version of Google that has a black background, which may cut down on your display's electricity consumption. There are green search engines, green shopping sites, and even green dating sites -- it's an impressive abundance of good intentions.

Police Confirm Truck Found in Hotel Parking Lot Belongs to Marine on ...

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Police confirmed Tuesday a truck found at a hotel parking lot belongs to a Marine on the run who is accused of murdering a 20-year-old Marine and her unborn child.

The manhunt for Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean, the suspect in Lauterbach's murder, stretched into its fourth day with a $25,000 reward and a national billboard campaign. His truck was spotted at a Microtel Inn in Morrisville, N.C.

Officials positively identified the burned remains found in Laurean's backyard of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, reported missing on Dec. 19. Lauterbach died from a blunt force trauma to the head, according to an autopsy report.

"He's probably where he wants to be and can move at a more slower, unattractive pace," Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown told FOX News Tuesday.

Is indecency running rampant in our shopping malls?

A rigorous legal criteria ensures that neither museum nor mall aesthetics are subject to random, punitive witch hunts.

My sympathies never lie with alienating, elitist retailers like Abercrombie & Fitch — girlcott them, boycott them, shop elsewhere if the vibe offends. Yet I'll always go to bat for art, and for the ability of young people to somehow survive exposure to an underwear model in an underwear store, or the image of a statuesque guy spotted in a field on a lazy summer afternoon. Now — you want to talk mall indecency? Look at the price tags …

Lyco playing for league title today

The Warriors are 12-4 since the beginning of 2008, including Wednesday's 71-56 semifinal win over Lebanon Valley, the last game Williams attended. Lyco is 6-3 on the road in that stretch, and 6-2 in games decided by five points or less. It's also won four league games after trailing at halftime. Last season, Lycoming won just once on the road in MAC Freedom play, dooming it to a fifth-place finish. “It wasn't a policing type thing," Friday said of bringing in Williams. “It was more to help these guys develop a peak performance, a mental edge. And that's where we're at. I'd recommend it to anybody who has the resources. Not everybody has the resources, especially at a level like ours." The key, Friday said, was to give Williams complete access. That meant attending practices, traveling to nearly every game, and holding extra meetings with players — alone and in small or large groups.

Ice Hockey: Kanka at the double as Bees put Raiders to the sword

But the margin of victory in their final group match gives them a decent chance of finishing with the best record of any team in the last four and therefore securing favourable home advantage in the second leg during the knockout stage.

Czech ace Kanka opened the scoring a little more than three minutes into the match.

And before the first period had ended, Bees had extended their lead to 4-0 thanks to Danny House, Shaun Thompson and Matt Foord.

It was no more than Bees deserved, having outshot the Islanders 24-1.

Goals from Jan Melichar and Peter Jasik made it 6-0 before ex-Bee Danny Hughes let fly with a trademark shot from point to get his new club off the mark.

Jasik, Melichar and Bees' man-of-the-match Jamie Line stretched the lead to 9-1, before Kanka wrapped up the scoring at 54.24.

Capitals soar past Flyers

Matt Bradley and Viktor Kozlov scored 64 seconds apart early in the third period to lead the Washington Capitals over the Flyers, 4-3, last night in Philadelphia.

NHL scoring leader Alex Ovechkin got his league-best 46th goal and Brooks Laich also scored for the Capitals, who moved into first place in the mediocre Southeast Division.

Mike Knuble, Sami Kapanen, and Randy Jones scored for Philadelphia.

Bradley deflected a slap shot by Mike Green past Martin Biron to give the Capitals a 2-1 lead 2:01 into the third period. Bradley hadn't scored in 17 games, dating to Dec. 26. Kozlov beat Biron with a shot from the left circle to give Washington a two-goal cushion.

Biron struggled for the first time since losing to New Jersey on Jan. 4. He had been 5-0 in his last seven appearances.

Plans hinge on 'Millionaire'

Alexander and Bowker have been tuning in all week for the show's "Wedding Week" to see how other chosen couples have fared.

"We're definitely nervous. When we watched the episodes this week, I was sweating. Even though you know it's going to happen, you just never know what you look like or what you said," Alexander said.

"They call it a hot seat for a reason."

The Yorkville couple recorded the game show every day and watched it "religiously" after work to prepare for the trivia game show, she said.

Although she would not reveal details about the episodes, Alexander noted that host Vieira was "gorgeous, beautiful and so nice," and gave hugs to the couple when it was all over.

The couple plans to wed July 12. They moved to Yorkville in April for job opportunities and a chance to own a home instead of renting in Chicago.

The Archives

Good mescaline comes on slow. The first hour is all waiting, then about halfway through the second hour you start cursing the creep who burned you, because nothing is happening... and then ZANG! Fiendish intensity, strange glow and vibrations... a very heavy gig in a place like the Circus-Circus.

You spend an age wondering if anything is going to happen... but it jumps you- initially, very very similar to good MDMA, airy, light in your head, kinda queasy and dizzy but you feel like you are radiating some kind of warmth outwards in the body.

That sticks around for 30 minutes or so. At that point I went for a walk up some hills to look out over Glasgow city, that's when the emotional ride kicked in. Alternating waves of happiness, sadness, nostalgia, forward-thinking, deep seated memories coming to the fore followed by deja-vu.

TENNISDanesis, Wedlakewin sectional titles ...

Revere senior Stephanie Danesis and St. Vincent-St. Mary freshman Taylor Wedlake led a group of area district qualifiers at the Canton Division I and II Sectional Tournament at Weis Park on Saturday.

Danesis defeated GlenOak junior Jasmine Lee 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 to win a Division I sectional singles championship. Lee advanced to district. The top four in singles and doubles advance.

Copley sophomore Jessica Wharton defeated Revere freshman Natalie Robson 6-2, 6-4 in the third-place match.

The Jackson doubles team of Loni Dickerhoof and Trisha Conlan won a Division I sectional title in straight sets.

Green's tandem of Maria Ciccolini and Heather Ross finished fourth to advance.

Wedlake defeated Tallmadge senior Jennifer Brown 6-0, 7-5 to win a Division II sectional singles championship.

Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Kotsay's had success in Atlanta, both in the majors (.292 average with nine extra-base hits and 12 RBIs in 106 at-bats) and the Olympics. The two-time college player of the year hit .303 (10-for-33) with four doubles, three homers, six RBIs and 10 runs for the U.S. at the '96 Atlanta Olympics.

Batting order: So what will the Braves' batting order look like, assuming Kotsay is in it? I'm going to take a stab, though this could obviously change and I don't feel too certain about much more than the 3-4 slots:

SS Yunel Escobar, 2. Kotsay, 3. 3B Chipper Jones, 4. 1B Mark Teixeira, 5. RF Jeff Francoeur/C Brian McCann, 6. Francoeur/McCann, 7. 2B Kelly Johnson, 8. LF Matt Diaz/Brandon Jones.

I believe Kelly could also bat leadoff (he and Yunel both thrived in the role last year), and I'm guessing with the Francoeur/McCann thing because that's what Bobby did last season, depending upon the pitcher.

Black leader, a Clinton ally, tilts to Obama

Clinton is very desperate to win at any cost, like President Bush had to do in Florida. Anytime you have to put someone down, with negativity, in order to build yourself up, you loose credit for yourself. Bill Clinton showed us all what it would lead to in SC; MD, VA, and DC a win for OBAMA. Thank you Bill Clinton. Keep it up Hillary Clinton because we want to see everything you have. This is what Americans are sick and tired of. Hillary wrote a book title "It Take A Village To Raise A Child"; she was not creative with the title of her own book. She taps in on people and other cultures phrases and ideas and claim them as she is the author of such creativness. In this primary race, she has used Sen. Obama's words to try to discredit and mislead people about him. It will not work. She is a desperate candidate that cannot beat Se.
