(The Euston group formally launched on May 26 in London. Several members have also written op-eds -- see here -- as part of the roll out. Norman Geras, a government professor at the University of Manchester, has been particularly insightful, including this piece in the Guardian: Within the large "middle" sector of left-liberal opinion opposed to the war there has been, from the start, a differentiating subdivision - between those who opposed the war without being in denial about the considerations on the other side of the argument, and those who precisely have been in denial about them. This latter group extends well beyond the far left. The signs of denial are abundant in the recent public life of the western democracies: in the banners and slogans for that Saturday on February 15 2003, from which one would never have known that Saddam's Iraq was a foul tyranny; in the numbers of those on the left unwilling to allow, many indeed unable to comprehend, why others of us supported a regime-change war; in a constant stream of comment in liberal daily papers and weeklies of the left; in the excommunications issued and more recent calls for apology or recantation; and, most seriously, in the perceptible lack of interest in initiatives of solidarity with the forces in Iraq battling for a democratic transformation of their country, part of a wider lack of enthusiasm for the success of this enterprise given its origins in a war led by George Bush.) Posted on April 17, 2006: Though it hasn't garnered much media attention, there has been an interesting fight brewing within the political Left.
Lindsay Lohan really wants to get laid
Lindsay Lohan, or as I affectionately call her "Cinnamon Chesterton," knocked back vodka and champagne at a West Hollywood club the other night. Heeding the drunken call of her fiery master, Lindsay went on a manhunt and set her eyes on Adrian Grenier. But things didn't go as planned, according to NY Daily News: LiLo at first gravitated to Grenier, pulling off her red leather jacket and pulling him onto the dance floor. But when the girl he came with reclaimed the “Entourage" star, Lohan made her way over to the table where Leo was partying with Kevin Connolly and Lukas Haas. “She was very flirty with Leo," says our spy. “But he wasn't saying much to her." DiCaprio and Grenier and their posses exited around 2 a.m., leaving Lohan with some girlfriends. Kevin Connolly, foolishly thinking he'd touch his first boob, tried to make a pass at the desperate Lindsay.
It Is What It Is … But What Is It?
In 1987, the SMU football program got the "death penalty" when boosters were caught giving cash to players. That sort of thing happens all the time at Northwestern. I've seen it right out on the field, players still in uniform being handed wads of cash, rewards for helping boosters win bets that can climb into the thousands of dollars. In my book, I wrote of one booster who rewarded a star Northwestern sophomore with a car. I had to laugh when Ronnie Tipps, Southlake Carroll's athletic director, expressed shock that an offshore sports book was taking bets on the Northwestern game. "High school football is one of the purest forms of entertainment," said Tipps. "It just irritates me that [gambling] drifts down to the high school level." Oh, please. Nicole Kidman sparks fresh pregnancy rumours as she quits new film
However, the presence of Kidman's husband, country singer Keith Urban, in the maternity ward is less certain. This month he embarks on a gruelling nine-month tour of America. The tour, which will see him and his band travel the length of the U.S. on a bus, was arranged before Nicole broke the news of her pregnancy. Scroll down for more... .

Ski resorts rejoicing over best snow in several years
Underneath that snow at Vail, Colo., the nation's busiest resort, is $1 billion in improvements in lodging, retail facilities and other amenities like ice-skating. "All the streets feel like plazas. East Meadow Drive is so much more inviting - and with the new restaurants and shops, it feels like our own 'Little Italy,"' said Beth Slifer, chairwoman of Vail's Local Marketing District Advisory Council. "With our European street concept we've developed a look, a feel and a product that will last 100 years and that encourages shopping, dining and lingering during any season," said her husband, Rod, Vail's mayor. Aspen's Snowmass resort has added a $17 million, 25,000-square foot children's center, called the Treehouse Kid's Adventure Center. It has a dedicated four-seat chair just for the kids.

UPDATE: Heath Ledger's death might be drug related
The drugs could turn out not to be Heath Ledger's. From what I hear they're probably his. No one will know for 10 days until a more thorough autopsy is complete. But it gives eerie resonance to Jack Nicholson's cryptic remark last night of "I warned him." UPDATE: The NYPD is saying there was no visible residue on the rolled-up $20 bill, according to the AP. .
CU students urge resignations
Each volunteer will be issued an extra-large butterfly net. The hunt will then begin. When I blow my whistle, we will scatter in every direction and catch as many chinks as possible. Make sure to pay special attention to the Rec Center, the UMC, the math and engineering buildings and Lollicup. If you're not sure if someone is a chink, give them a calculus problem to do in their head. If they get it right, net 'em. Captured chinks will be dragged to my apartment on the Hill and hog-tied. Once they're all secured in my living room, "Phase 2" will come into effect. The chinks' reformation will begin with a 100-round beer pong tournament. They will listen to "It's a Small World" on repeat while they play. When the tournament is finished, the chinks will then be forced to eat bad sushi from Hapa-with forks.
Gemma Atkinson in balcony romp
Then another level, and then another... And when you reach the right floor after pushing all her buttons in the hotel lift, it just gets better and better. Gemma's former lover Karl Benion today reveals how jungle-hot Gemma gave him the elevator ride of his life followed by SPANKING romps on a balcony during a steamy two-month fling. They'd only just met on holiday in Majorca when the ex-Hollyoaks star pounced. Karl, 28, grins: "We'd been out clubbing and were in the lift on our way back to my apartment when she suddenly went wild and started ripping my clothes off. Swearing "She was wearing very little herself. I ended up with one hand jammed against the stop' button between floors...and the other was, well, quite full!
